Knowledge Building Seminar: Navigating AI in Education

After covering the introductory material in the Knowledge Building Seminar, participants will have the opportunity to experiment with AI-powered tools. These tools can assist in creating dynamic and tailored learning materials, making lesson planning more efficient. The goal is to empower you to harness AI in ways that streamline your workflow and enrich your students' educational journey. 

Workshop: Unleash the Power of Chatbots
(Best delivered after a knowledge building seminar to learn the basics of AI.)
The hands-on workshop introduces attendees to the "The Bots!" (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot). These revolutionary technological innovations can be leveraged to reclaim valuable teaching time and add efficiency to administrative tasks. By utilizing AI for less impactful tasks—such as basic writing, simple data analysis, and mundane administrative work—educators can devote more time to the critical, high-value human skills they bring to the learning environment. Chatbots can be used to modify existing curricula or generate new, engaging content tailored to standards and instructional needs --  powerful tools for enhancing the teaching and learning process.  (Recommended timeframe: 2-3 hour).

Workshop: Get Good at Prompting
Elevate your teaching practice with the power of prompting. In this engaging workshop, educators will learn how to develop and utilize AI prompts to enhance their teaching practices. This session is for the purpose of building your prompting skills to lighten your work and increase your efficiency to accomplish a variety of tasks related to your instructional role. 

Participants will explore the fundamentals of AI prompt development, including understanding how AI interprets and responds to different types of prompts. Through hands-on activities, educators will practice crafting effective AI prompts for various educational purposes, such as personalized learning paths, differentiated instruction, and real-time student feedback.

We will discuss best practices for using AI tools to generate questions that stimulate critical thinking, creativity, and deeper understanding among students. Educators will learn how to seamlessly incorporate AI prompts into their lesson plans, making their teaching more efficient and impactful.

By the end of this workshop, teachers will have the skills and confidence to leverage AI technology, transforming their instructional strategies and enhancing student engagement and achievement.

Presentation & Workshop: Board & Build (School Board on one evening/Micro-Learning Build the next day)
This is an excellent option to kickstart AI integration within your school district. A one-hour AI awareness session is provided to the school board and/or community stakeholders in a single evening. The following day, facilitation is provided for a small group of teachers to build micro-learning sessions for various audiences. Teachers will develop up to three one-hour introductory AI courses tailored for high school students, parents, and fellow educators (or audience of your choosing), laying a foundational understanding of AI's potential impact and applications in education.
